Using Topic Descriptions for Better Intent Matching
Topic Descriptions help Quack classify and route user questions more accurately. Each topic is associated with a short, clear description that guides the classification model to understand what types of questions belong under that topic.
What is a Topic Description?
A Topic Description is a brief summary that defines what a topic includes. This description is not shown to end users, but is used internally to train and fine-tune Quack AI’s classification model.
These descriptions improve Quack's ability to:
Automatically route questions to the correct team or flow
Reduce misclassification
Improve accuracy in answers
How to Write an Effective Topic Description
Each Topic Description should be:
Clear and Focused: Avoid unnecessary detail, write just enough to communicate what belongs under this topic.
Comprehensive: Make sure it describes the full range of questions that should be classified here.
Example:
Topic: Account Cancellation
Description: Includes all requests about canceling service, refunds, and unsubscribing.
💡 Pro Tip: Use phrases like “includes all requests about…” to keep descriptions consistent and classification-friendly.
How to Set Up Topic Descriptions

Best Practices
Avoid naming internal tools or team names
Do not include step-by-step instructions
Focus on what the user is trying to do, not how they phrase it
