Skills Lab: Supercharge Your Quack AI Agents
Quack’s Skill Lab lets you extend Quack AI’s automation, coverage, and resolution abilities with easy-to-create, highly targeted skills.
What Are Skills?
Skills are add-ons that empower your AI Agents to perform specific tasks:
Template Skills: Pre-built integrations with popular third-party tools.
Custom Skills: Connections to your own internal APIs, admin tools, or data sources.
Use Skills to expand your agents’ capabilities, without writing code or managing credentials manually.
💡 Pro Tip: Use clear, action-based names like Search Player Details or Check Subscription Status so agents and teammates instantly understand each skill’s purpose.
How to Create a Custom Skill
Step 1: Create a Custom Skill
Go to Automations → Skills in the Quack dashboard.
Select Create Skill → Custom Skill.
Paste your internal API’s cURL command into the Import field, or manually:
Add your endpoint or webhook URL (where Quack sends the request).
Define any required parameters (e.g.,
ticket_id,URL, ormessage_body).
Quack automatically secures your credentials using its Secret Manager.
Name your skill and write a short description explaining when it should be used.
Click Save.
Step 2: Connect the Skill to an AI Agent
Go to your AI Agent and open the Training Panel.
Choose the Topic where you want the skill to trigger.
In the Brief section, describe:
When Quack should call the skill (e.g., when a user asks about a specific article).
Which skill should be called (reference by slug).
Any parameters required.
Examples:
“For any questions on skill setup, reference Using Template Skills – Quack’s Pre-Built Skills Library using the skill
knowledge_search_by_url.”
“Call
create_jira_ticketwith parameters:ticket_titleandpriority_level.”
Step 3: Test and Release
Start a test conversation in the Training Panel
Ask a question or trigger the scenario where the skill should activate.
Check the Skill Logs in the chain of thought to confirm request and response details.
Adjust parameters, endpoint, or brief instructions as needed.
Once ready, toggle on the skill in Configurations and Release for the skill to be enabled in production.
👉 For Template Skills, see How to Add a Template Skill in Quack.
Step 5: Deploying Your Custom Skill
Go to your chosen AI Agent.
Open Configuration → Skills.
Toggle on your new skill.
Release the new agent
Your AI Agent now uses your custom skill automatically, prompting for missing info and giving accurate, contextual responses.
